Brian’s thoughts on the retreat topics
The retreat programme provides an opportunity to draw breath for a few days in the beautiful setting of Ras Sudr on the Red Sea. There will be opportunity to find your own personal space as well as a guided reflection on the experience of visiting Egypt, its sights and its people. Connections will be made with the faith journeys of key biblical characters, for whom Egypt played a significant role in their own life stories. There will be space for us to reflect on our life experience, exploring our inner landscape and the things that bring it to life.
Brian trained for Christian ministry at the London Bible College, now known as the London School of Theology. His first pastorate was at Lymm Baptist Church, Cheshire where he ministered for nine years. During that time Brian made his first retreat, initially a 4 day retreat at the Retreat House in Chester, and then a year later, a 10 day retreat. In 1990 he participated in the Llysfasi Spirituality workshop, a 16 day workshop offering the experience of both taking a retreat and then accompanying another person on retreat. The Workshop led to accompanying others in Weeks of Guided Prayer and later to being a team member on the Workshop in 1999, 2006 and 2007. Brian is also secretary to the Baptist Union Retreat Group and a member of the Spiritual Direction Network committee for Oxford, Bucks and Berks. He is currently chair of the Retreat Association.
